A Day at the Beach

Bobby and I wear lucky enough to have Jack & Molly for a couple days! Today was a pretty day so we decided to go have a picnic at the beach. It turned out to be more fun that I ever thought it would be. There was only 1 other family there, so we practically had the beach to ourselves. So Jack wanted to make a heart moat - then all the ducks and seagulls came and ate out of our hands. Jack and Molly ran their little legs off bringing water to the moat. We built the moat really high, and the kids loved it. We tried not to get our clothes wet - but that just didn't happen!

Earlier in the day Jack & Molly weren't playing so good, so I put them in time-out in opposite chairs and made them look at each other without talking - it was so funny - they got tickled and laughing, so I ended the time out - and about 6 min later they asked to be put back into time out! I know I'm a meanie!!
Another cute saying from Jack: (forgive me Jodi & Mike) I locked the door to the bathroom to change clothes, and low and behold here come Jack & Molly saying: "Let us in, you know we are super spies - we are boobies spies!) I laughed so hard. When you watch this video - Jack & Molly made up the comments!

A Day at the Zoo

Today was a beautiful day, so when Jodi called and said she was going to meet Cathie and kids at the zoo - I jumped on the idea!!! Needless to say - it was all I thought it would be. Kids are so entertaining - I laughed the entire day. I love the way Cathie and Jodi do the zoo - they just let the kids go at their own pace and let them go where ever they want. Of course they have all been members since they were born - so they prob know the zoo better than the people that work there. Anyway a pic is worth a 1000 words so enjoy this slide! Love, Nana

Another Snake!

So today we were trying to clean up the back yard - so I was cutting up all the tree limbs we had trimmed off a couple of months ago,,,,,and low and behold as I'm picking up trunks to cut up - there is another baby snake!!! Similar to the other 3, but different! This time, remembering Molly's dream - I had a totally different attitude - I did not scream - panic or run. I gently looked at it to see IF it was poison (I can't believe that I didn't scream or run). I walked into the house and got Bobby and calmly asked him to come and MOVE this snake. I told him, "I don't want to kill it, because it's God's creation." Well, Bobby had a different attitude - he said, "I hate snakes and don't want any in our yard." So he chopped off his head and threw him over the fence! I really believe I would rather have trees and an undeveloped area behind us, but I really don't like so many snakes - If I saw 4 how many are there really in my yard? I don't want to think about it. So, Molly, I tried - but I am secretly glad that snake is gone! I mean REALLY gone!

Max's weekend with Nannie & Papa

We were so excited to get Max for the weekend. Of course being an only child, we were a little late leaving Dallas, but it was nice getting to eat lunch with Nicole and Cody. Max slept on the ride home and woke up when we got to Benbrook just in time to get an ice cream cone from McDonald's. It did not take him long to figure out how to eat a soft cone - he love it and when he got to the cone he was a pro at biting off the cone!!! (sorry Cody & Nic - grandparents rights) When we got to Granbury, we went outside to get some fresh air and Max went straight to the pirate ship - he must have been thinking about walking the plank since his last trip - he stepped right up to it and walked it like he was a pro! Then he went to the theatre where Molly had set up a kitchen, and explored that. Later on we fingered painted and also brush painted. Max is a true artist - he likes getting his hands into his work!!!! He slept on his little cot and only climbed onto Nana a few times - it is so great to wake up and see him open his eyes and smile at you! that memory will be forever etched in my heart. Cody & Nic held off as long as possible, but Max was glad to see them - my only regret about the weekend was that Jack & Molly weren't here to play with him. So anyway - hope you had as great a weekend as Nana and Papa had, Max. We love you -

A Molly story about SNAKES!

Jodi asked Molly how she slept last night. Molly's reply, "I slept great, God wrapped his arms around me and we talked." What did you talk about, Molly? "We talked about Nana's snakes and God said in a really loud voice: "Nana should not have killed those snakes. They were my creations!" Well.....what's a comeback for that? Yes, Nana shouldn't have killed the snakes - I'm sorry God and Molly. But, please God keep them away from my back porch!!!!!

snakes, snakes, snakes!!!

So we have been outside most of the day. Jack & Molly had to help cut down a tree, and I was cleaning around the patio. While I was taking out some old bricks to transplants some lantana - all of a sudden a orange snake pocks his head out at me - Molly & Jack are inside doing something - so I start screaming bloody murder and finally Jack & Molly go get papa (on the computer as usual) I didn't want the snake getting away so I tried to kill it with the hole in my hand, as soon as I felt the snake - I screamed and screamed - I couldn't do it - all I did was make him mad!!!!!!!!!!! Well, finally the old man comes out and kills it, promising me it wasn't a copperhead. My arms went limp and my head is pounding - I sit down to rest, call my sister for some sympathy and get back to work, finishing the flowerbed I started......low and behold........what........Am i crazy - two more snakes - yes two - lying side by side - this time my screams brought more help - bobby came and killed them, and finished removing the bricks.
I forgot to mention that Jack and Molly's favorite game is now screaming: SNAKE, SNAKE!!

Sunday with Jack and Molly

Mike brought the kids to Granbury in time for church - they love our "children's church" and the kids in our children's church love them. Jack led the prayer in the "children's church" and did a great job. The kids are so smart, the teacher asked them what a miracle was and Molly was the only one who knew - (if Jack did, he didn't raise his hand) she said, "It's like magic, when you help or make someone well when no one else can, and the people are really happy." That's coming from a 3 year old. Jack and Molly sat on a row by themselves. Mike and I looked over at Molly just in time to see her reach over and give Jack a kiss on his cheek, he immediately did what a 5 yr old boy would do - put her in a headlock. That did not stop Miss Molly, because as soon as he let go she reached over and planted one on he face. I asked Mike where she ever saw anyone kiss like that, and she said it was a "Hollywood Kiss"! As soon as she gets older she can kiss on the mouth, but for now she has to kiss on the cheek!!! The teacher was asking for animals that would go on Noah's ark, and Jackson suggested a hippo, well, after several minutes of discussions the hippo noise was imitated, and class went on. I am including a few pics of what we do at Nannie's when it's too cold to go outside. They changed the game and are calling it bowling and either Molly or Jack are on the red chaise and are the bowling pen, while the other one is the ball and try to knock over the pin!!! Isn't that cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please note that in Jack's jump his fist is stuck out front as if he were superman!!! Oh the good times at nannies! (ps Molly invented this game!)

I have included a slide show of what we do at Nannie's when it's bad outside! Enjoy!! I must say I love having grandkids!!!! I am truly blessed.

Our weekly date with Mr. Max

This was a great week for babysitting Max. We picked him up at daycare, and he was on the mountain playing "king of the mountain", and....yes, Max was king!! When he saw Nannie, he came stepping off the mountain like a "big kid". Each step was taken with one foot and no hanging on to anything. After I picked him up - it was bye to everyone in his class and a couple got hand blown kisses. We took his Steve McQueen race car (which the trunk is in the seat) and went on a treasure hunt. He gathered sticks, acorns, and leaves. Of course everything was a chock hazard, but to Max and Nana they were mostly treasures. When you see Max drinking from the blue cup - he grabbed my coffee cup - needless to say - he loves coffee w/cream. Sorry, Cody & Nicole - he did however say "hmmmmmmmmmmmm" after he downed it! I have included a few pics. When you double click on the pics - you can see his face so much better.

Movie Day with Jack & Molly`

So yesterday I went to play with Molly and Jack. They were worn out from their long ride to Houston and back. So I thought maybe a movie day would let them chill and just lay around the house. I take them to Family Video - If you never been to one - do go! Before we even go in Jack sees "THE SIGN" - "FREE MOVIES FOR KIDS!". I couldn't believe it - but there is was big as daylight! We go in there is a Hugh (bigger than life) incrediable HULK ! Jack was won over by this video store. It was true - all the free movies you wanted - - - and you could keep them for 7 yes 7 days!! Now, Nana was won over. So Jack picked our Mario Brothers and the store manager told him to go ahead to pick another one - so he got Batman annimated. We looked and looked for Molly - then she said, "Nana, this is over whelming, please just pick one out for me!" So, then I looked and looked and decided on Heidi. She or Jack had never seen it, and it had been years since I've seen it. So, we get 2 tubs of popcorn, cotton candy and 3 movies - all for $6.13....can you believe that!!! Next, we go to the Sonic, pick up lunch and head home. I can hardly wait to see Heidi - (sorry Molly - I really picked it out for me). Well we settle down and get all situated - Jack watches Batman, the we start Heidi. I knew I got it in the "G" section, but really had forgotten most of it. Than Jodi joins us - well, let me say - Heidi gets given to an "Old man" which the entire town hates, but he is her grandfather, then her mean old aunt comes back and sells her to a family, all the while Heidi is crying for her Grandfather, then the house keeper sells her to a band of Gypsies, and grandfather gets put in jail. I tried my best to convince Jodi that this movie had a happy ending - which it did, but the part of the movie I forgot seemed to be the most important part - human trafficking - kidnapping - resisting arrest. Which I'm sure that maybe this might not have been the best movie for Molly and Jack - BUT....from a Nana's standpoint they did really enjoy the movie - even cheered for Heidi and Grandfather as they were outrunning the cops!!!!!! What a great day it was!!!!! Love, Nannie
